FUFA on Wednesday made consultations with clubs from the Women Super League and agreed that Njeru Technical Center would host all the league games in a tournament format with the champion representing Uganda in the inaugural CAF women’s Champions League.

The teams were grouped into two groups with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semifinals while the bottom teams in each group will be eliminated to the Elite league.

Speaking to the media, FUFA competitions director Hajjati Aisha Nalule cited the prevailing circumstances as the reason as to why changes have been made in reference to last year’s tournament which ended prematurely due to the Coviid pandemic.

The league which is scheduled to start on 11th April 2021 has come under a lot of criticism from club officials who would prefer the kickoff date to be extended to give time for players who are candidates to complete their final UNEB exams.

Meanwhile the draws for the FUFA Elite league which is scheduled to start on 2nd May 2021 at FUFA’s Njeru Technical Center were also made.

All the 16 teams were grouped into four groups with the two finalists and the third-place playoff winner qualifying for the Super league. The bottom teams in each group will be relegated to the regional league.
