Former Olympics gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich is among the 37-man start list for the athletes who will compete in this year’s NN mission Marathon in Netherlands.
Kiprotich became Uganda’s second ever Olympic gold Medalist at the 2012 London games and later won gold at the world marathon Championship in Moscow.
The official final start list was released for the event which will start at 10:00 am Ugandan time on Sunday morning. The event was earlier slated to take place in Hamburg but due to a spike in the number of Covid-19 patients, the event organisers shifted the marathon to Enschede in the Netherlands.
Filex Chemoges who finished third at the 2019 Toronto waterfront Marathon and Geofrey Kusuro are the two other Ugandans who were shortlisted for the Marathon which provides an opportunity for athletes to chase PB’s and Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification marks.
The Ugandans will come up against favourite Eluid Kipchoge from Kenya. This will be the second time Kipchoge will be competing in the Netherlands.
Kipchoge together with other NN running team members announced a partnership to train with Abbot’s Libre sense Glucose sport Biosensor. This will be the first time Kipchoge will be wearing Abbott’s biosensor in a competitive marathon.
The pacers list will be released on Saturday by the marathon organizers. Victor Kiplangat and Jackson Kiprop and Bernard Cheptoch will be hoping to make the list.
