It was a day of joy and sharing memories as Ugandans in South Africa organized a surprise sendoff party for the retired former national team captain Denis Onyango on a sunny Monday evening in Pretoria.

The event was organized by Onyango’s friends, former Cranes team mates and Mamelodi Sundowns players. The attendees who were majorly dressed in the Cranes’ 2019 AFCON kit posed for a group photo to “kulumya abayaye” a local slang that means making others jealous.

Those in attendance included; Allan Kateregga, Samuel Celubra and Moses Waiswa. “Thanks for the retirement party. Big thanks to Allan Kateregga, Samuel Celubra and Moses Waiswa for putting this function together. I absolutely appreciate the love,” said the Mamelodi Sundowns shot stopper.

This latest as Ugandan football players link up to celebrate life and comes less than 24 hours after Abdu Lumala posted a photo posing with his Cranes teammates Emma Okwi and Khalid Aucho over the weekend. The post read, “With my people Khalid Aucho Emmanuel Okwi @kayembasolomon”.

Hope they were not plotting for another retirement coup. At ugsports.net we say “keep the spirit and the Ug flag high”.
