Uganda national netball team captain Peace Proscovia Drajole Agondua commonly known as Peace Proscovia took a day off with her teammates to make a surprise visit to Sunshine Coast University Hospital patients.
Peace Proscovia who plays as a goal shooter for Sunshine Coast Lightning was in company of her teammates Maddy McAuliffe and Phumza Maweni.
They were joined by a trio of Melbourne Storm rugby players; Harry Grant, Dale Finucane and Tui Kamikamica , to brighten the day of Sunshine Coast University Hospital patients. Both teams are based on the Sunshine Coast and that’s why they decided to carry out a joint community service.
Peace Proscovia joined Sunshine Coast Lightning from Loughborough Lightning at the start of the 2019 season and has been an integral member of Sunshine Coast ever since.
Due to a rise in Covid 19 patients in Australia last year, the team was restricted from attending the event where Sunshine Coast players are required to share special moments with patients at the hospital.
The annual visit to the hospital is believed to have inspired a number of young girls to take up netball. Sunshine Coast Lightning are currently third on the table in the Suncorp Super Netball league with 8 points after 3 games. They host 2nd Swifts whom they are tied on points with on Sunday 23rd May 2021 at the USC Stadium.
