There were mixed reactions from both current and retired national team players after the Uganda Cranes lost 3-2 to hosts South Africa in an international friendly played on Thursday 10th June 2021 at the Orlando Stadium in South Africa.

The scorer of the Cranes’ second goal Abdul Lumala was quick to congratulate the Uganda Cranes debutants for their personal milestone earned. “Many debutants today, congratulations boys, let’s keep the spirit. The future is bright,“wrote the attacker on his face book page.

Lumala came on in the 80th minute for Allan Okello to score Uganda’s second goal through a header from a corner.

Meanwhile, former Uganda Cranes vice-captain Hassan Wasswa Mawanda tweeted words of encouragement to the future Cranes’ players following their loss to South Africa with the words, “Great work guys, good spirit…don’t put your heads down cause it’s just the beginning of good things. The future is bright”.

The ex-International went ahead to challenge FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo to carry out a complete reshuffle rather than partial. “Am just thinking…. As the Fufa president @MosesMagogo is reshuffling the team, why doesn’t he reshuffle the technical team as well.???? Because I think we do have young coaches that can deliver. Cause a young mind needs new fresh Ideas from young coaches,” tweeted Hassan Wasswa.
