At the Pilsner Monthly Awards, head coach Roberto Oliveira Robertinho of the five-time champion Vipers SC was named Coach of the Month for November.
In a brief ceremony on Monday at the Kati Kati Restaurant, the Kitende team’s tactician won the monthly award by defeating the Wakiso Giants’ John Luyinda Ayala and the KCCA FC’s Morley Byekwaso.
In a November that saw the Venoms play seven games, the Brazilian was able to compile six victories. The other game included a scoreless draw with the Wakiso Giants.
After a sluggish start to the season, they finished November with 19 points out of a possible 21, scoring 13 goals and allowing only one.
They defeated UPDF FC 4-0 while defeating Arua Hill SC, URA FC, and Blacks Power FC each by a score of one.
Additionally, they easily defeated SC Villa 2-0 and Maroons FC 3-0 to rise up the rankings.
With six games played in November, Wakiso Giants head coach John Luyinda Ayala came in second, winning four and drawing the other two to help his team briefly hold the top spot in the standings.
Only by winning four of their five games and drawing one against URA at home could Morley Byekwaso’s KCCA FC team go undefeated in November.
Meanwhile, Nelson Ssenkatuuka defeated rivals Alex Kitata of Gaddafi FC and midfielder Ibrahim Kasule of Wakiso Giants FC.
Ssenkatuuka helped his team Bright Stars recover from two straight defeats they suffered at the beginning of the month of November to win three straight games while scoring five goals and providing one assist. He won three man of the match awards in the process.
Alex Kitata managed an 11% vote for his five goals scored with just one man of the match award, whereas Ibrahim Kasule came close with three goals and three assists with one man of the match award, garnering 33% of the vote.
