Ronald Rugumayo in the lead after day one of the Captain’s Bell

Professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo started his hunt for UGX 8 million at the Captain’s Bell golf tournament at the par 72 at the Kintante golf course with a 6 under par 66.

Ronald Rugumanyo who is the longest serving national team player and a member of Uganda Professional Golf Association was introduced to the game as a caddy by his brother in 2002 when he was 10 years and went on to play his first game in 2004.

The 28-year-old Rugumanyo is the current champion of the Rwenzori Open at Tooro golf club in Fort Portal in March. This was his third win ever since he turned pro back in 2018.

Going into day two of the event which acts also as the final round for the professional’s category is Abraham Ainamani who is tied for second with Silver Opio with 1 under par 71.

Abraham Ainamani won his first professional championship in 2018 at the Entebbe Open and is expected to give Ronald Rugumanyo a run for his money as we head into day 2.

The Captain’s bell golf open attracted a total of 31 Professionals with Herman Mutawe among the professionals. The event is set to end on Saturday 22nd May 2021.
