After drawing 1-1 at Bul FC over the weekend in a match that was interrupted by heavy rain and played on Sunday morning, Mbarara City travelled today to Kavumba Recreation Center to face off with Bright Stars FC.
As it was expected, Bright Star FC started the game looking the better side as they were the hosting team, as Samuel Ssekamatte needed only 23 minutes to put his team ahead in the game. Mbarara city then responded with an equalizer in the 27th minute through Bashir Mutanda who leveled the game at 1-1. But right before they could finish their goal celebration, it was the same Samuel Ssekamatte who added his second for the day to give his team a 2-1 lead in the 28th minute. At halftime between the two sides, it ended 2-1 with Bright Stars coming out on top thanks to the individual brilliance of Samuel Ssekamatte.
The second half, Mbarara City started the game by throwing more men forward in search of an equalizer, asking all sorts of questions to the Soltilo Bright Stars Defence. But everything in football comes at a cost, as Derrick Ngoobi scored in the 68th minute to put his side 3-1 up with only 22 minutes remaining until the end of the second half. The away team tried to craft out something in the game, but they couldn’t break the defensive setup of the Bright Stars boys who were frustrated in all their attempts. Full time, it finished in Kayunga 3-1, with Bright Stars Bagging the all 3 points. Bright stars now stand strong in the 6th position on 37 points, whereas Mbarara City Still remains in 11th position on 26 points after 23 games played this season.
