The national beach soccer team “The Sand Cranes” have qualified for the AFCON beach soccer finals to be played in Senegal after Ghana withdrew from the tournament just barely.
The Sand Cranes who are currently ranked 13th in Africa, join the highest ranked team among the entrants Egypt(3rd) and hosts Senegal on the list of the teams which have already qualified. The Cranes were due to host the West Africans on 27th March 2021 before the return leg in Ghana on 9th April 2021
The eight-team tournament will take place in Senegal from 23rd to 29th May 2021 where the two finalists will qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World cup in Russia.
Initially, Uganda was meant to host the tournament in 2020 but decided to pull out after citing the effects of Covid 19 pandemic.
