It’s been 6 years down the road since the Uganda Beach Soccer Association embarked on Sand Soccer League development.
Clubs like Kiringete BSC, St. Lawrence University BSC, and MUBS BSC have emerged with stars featuring in the National Sand Cranes team.
Of the 15 players taking part in the AFCON tomorrow, 3 are products of the Uganda National Beach League.
Tomorrow, 23rd May 2021 will be the first time the Uganda Sand Cranes take part in the Africa Cup Of Nations Beach Finals. This can be attributed to the efforts of the Beach Soccer Association of Uganda to develop the league over the past years.
The tournament begins on Sunday, and Uganda are drawn in Group A together with Senegal, Tanzania and Democratic Republic Of Congo.
The tournament is hosted by Cameroon and Uganda is camped at the Royal Hotel in Salt City as they put in the final yards ahead of the start of the tournament tomorrow.
Led by coach Salim Jamal Muwonge, FUFA executive committee member Hamisi anima is the overall head at the tournament.
They are accompanied by several officials including Deo Mutabazi who is the chairman of the Uganda Beach Soccer Association and Anthony Tumwesigye also a member of the aforementioned association.
