Recently the tie between SC Villa and Onduparaka has seen strong defensive capabilities exhibited by both sides and with the outcomes always ending in under 0.5 goals. Today SC Villa hosted Onduparaka in the second leg of the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup Round of 16 in Kampala at the Villa Stadium, where the tie ended 0-0.
Villa after beating the Arua boys 1-0 in the first leg away in Arua secured their place into the last 8 of this competition 1-0 on aggregate. They now join the likes of Vipers SC and Wakiso Giants who are now waiting for the quarter final draws for this year’s Uganda Cup competition. It will be interesting to find out where SC Villa will finish in this competition and with the Uganda Premier league almost out of their sight, this could be a very wonderful opportunity for Villa to salvage silverware this season.
Consequentially for the Caterpillars, they are now living dangerously after losing four consecutive matches in the Uganda Premier League, which has put them in the 12th position on 24 points after 21 games. Today’s Uganda Cup exit could be a blessing in disguise for them as they need to strategize to avoid being dragged to the relegation battles with the likes of Kitara FC and MYDA FC.
