On Sunday the 4th of September, She Cranes, and the Uganda Netball Federation visited Canaan Land (House of Prayer) at Makerere Kikoni in Kampala for thanksgiving.

This was attributed to their amazing performance at the 2022 commonwealth games in Birmingham, UK.

While at the 2022 CCommonwealth Games, the She Cranes defeated South Africa 54-48 for the first time ever since the past 18 Netball Championships.

Uganda’s She cranes settled for fifth place ahead of South Africa (6th), Malawi (7th), Wales (8th), Scotland (9th), Northern Ireland(10th), Trinidad and Tobago (11th), and Barbados (12th).

She Cranes moved in groups to give a vote of thanks to different churches where they prayed and sought blessings ahead of the commonwealth games.

The group was led by Hon. Sarah Babirye Nakityo, the Uganda Netball Federation President and Coach Sarah Namuddu.

The team also included the She Cranes’ Assistant Captain, Joan Nampungu, Christine Namumba Ntare Dan, the Marketing Manager, Ssentongo among others.

While at Canaan Land, Sarah Babirye encouraged the gathering to always trust and put God first in whatever they do.

“Despite the fact that She Cranes weren’t fully funded for the Commonwealth Games, we managed to close with an outstanding performance that gave us a direct qualification to the 2023 World Netball Cup.” Sarah Babirye added.

“We continue praying for more blessings and favor ahead of the 2023 World Netball Cup that will be in Cape town South Africa’’. Sarah added.

Sarah also encouraged Susan Makula to formulate young netball groups and pledged to train and support them physically and mentally.

The Uganda Netball Federation President, Sarah wrapped up her presentation with a 2M cheque handed over to Pastor Bujingo alongside his wife Susan Makula, and thereafter, Pastor Aloysius Bujingo prayed for She Cranes and the Uganda Netball Federation at large.

She Cranes President also added that they have honored England’s invitation to the Vitality Netball Superleague that is due October.
