South Africa defeated Uganda 44 : 32 in the last game of the SPAR challenge.
Pride was at stake as the Ugandans tried to avoid a 3rd defeat against the South Africans with the Ugandans leading the majority of the game.
The She Cranes came out strongly, leading the 1st quarter 7 : 10.
They went on to hold onto the lead at half time with a promising 17 : 19 score line in favor of the She Cranes.
Like the local saying goes “The strongest person needs not to start a task earliest”, the South Africans began gaining momentum.
By the end of the 3rd quarter, they had overturned the Ugandans’ lead to a 28 : 25 lead for the home team.
The South Africans held on and even extended their lead to a final score of 44 : 32 by the end of the game.
The She Cranes now return home with 3 victories, all against Namibia and 3 loses all against South Africa while South Africa finished the tournament undefeated.
South Africa’s Bongiwe Msomi was voted player of the match.
Uganda’s Irene Eyaru was voted best shooter of the tournament while Joan Nampungu was voted best defender of the tournament.
