Social media was today morning rife with news of Joseph Harold Mutyaba’s sacking. However, no official communication from the club’s PRO has been made regarding this new development. The media has been trying to get a hold of him to clear the air and address this speculation but his phones were off,  we are expecting an official communication soon.

Joseph Harold Mutyaba was hired by Onduparaka in March to replace outgoing coach Vialli Bainomugisha who left the club under unclear circumstances, even though the management cited personal reasons. Mutyaba was appointed immediately to help propel the Caterpillars to mid table position but ever since he was appointed, the club hasn’t been able to make significant progress in regard to their aspirations.

Onduparaka now sit at the 12th position in the league with 28 points, two points above Busoga United and five above Kyetume FC who are among the three relegation candidates for this season. Any slip up for the Arua based club will see them dragged back into the relegation equation. Onduparaka were knocked out of the Uganda Cup Round of 16 by SC Villa who ejected  them 1:0 on aggregate to qualify for the quarter final.

Onduparaka have a tough list of fixtures in the league coming their way, as they play Vipers FC in game week 27, before facing Police FC, Kyetume FC and UPDF on the last day of the season. The club want to secure their place in the league for next season’s competition and sacking Mutyaba right now seems like the only way to salvage their dying season. They need to win two matches to finish in a favourable position at the end of the 2020/2021 season.

Stay tuned for more news regarding this latest development, as we wait for official communication from the club.
