The Nsambya-based Sport-S volleyball team raised the national club championship trophy amidst disappointed Orange BlockBusters (OBB) volleyball club home crowd.

The finals in both men and women categories were between Sport-S and OBB.

Sport-S Men managed to defend the 2022 National Club Championship after beating OBB 3-0 at the Iganga Municipal Council Primary School playground on Sunday.

Thon Maker Magembo, a powerful attacker and Dickens Otim, a left-handed player who put on a true captain’s effort, helped Sport S defeat the seemingly uninteresting OBB 3-0.

Sport-S head coach Bavuga Benon Mugisha said, “Our team prepared very well and we fought until the last minute. Players followed the game plan well and we all wanted to win it from Iganga.”

The Sport-S ladies finished second after the loss to OBB 3:1.

In a thrilling final that got the home fans cheering, OBB ladies overpowered Sport- S ladies.

Sport-S and OBB will represent Uganda at the Africa Club Championship in Tunisia next year.

Now focus turns to the National Volleyball League round one, which will volley off on September 10, 2022.
