The just concluded 2021 FUFA Women Super League in numbers

The Women Super League is the top tier league for Women football in Uganda under FUFA

The 2021 FUFA Women Super League came to a conclusion yesterday 5th May with two games played on the same day.

The First game was between Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC  and the later won the 3rd place by beating Kawempe Muslim 2-1.

The finals were played between UCU Lady Cardinals and Lady Doves FC , the Masindi based side Lady Doves FC were crowned the champions after beating UCU Lady Cardinals 2-1, this was their first ever League Title.

The  tournament was played in two phases before reaching the playoffs stage where by teams were grouped into two each group comprised of five teams and they were as follows:

Group 1/A

1.  Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC

2.  Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC

3.  Makerere University FC

4.  Tooro Queens FC

5.  Kampala Queens FC

Group 2/B

1.  Lady Doves FC

2.  UCU Lady Cardinals FC

3.  She Corporate FC

4.  Isra Soccer Academy

5.  Olila High School WFC

Group one teams opened up this year’s campaign with the teams reporting on the 18th April and the kickoff was on Monday 19th April.

The opening game of the Tournament was between Makerere University also known as the She MAK and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC at 9:00am , Kevin Nakacwa scored the first goal of the tournament in the 70th minute scoring it into Makerere University FC’s net and it was the only goal in the game.

Group one games were concluded on 24th  April and Fauzia Najjemba of Kampala Queens scored the 87th minute closing goal in the group against Makerere University FC and they won 2-1 , the game played at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.

Group two teams started reporting on 25th April and Lady Doves FC were the first team to report at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru ahead of their opening fixture on 26th April at 9:00am.

In the opening fixture Lady doves ran riot over Isra Soccer Academy by beating them 5-0 , Lady Doves FC’S Nyandera Lydia scored the first goal of the group with Fazila Ikwaput scoring the first hat-trick before scoring the fourth.

After the group stages the first two teams in each group qualified for the playoffs and the last team in each group was relegated .

In group A, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC qualified for the play-offs while Makerere University FC was religated to the Elite League for the next season.

In group B UCU Lady Cardinals FC and Lady Doves FC qualified for the Playoffs while Isra Soccer Academy was relegated to the Elite League after collecting no points and no goals scored by the team.

4.  Most Valuable player: Fazila IKwaput (Lady Doves FC)
