The 2022/23 Uganda Premier League is so far living up to expectations as the first round successfully came to an end
It has been an exciting footballing weeks with so much action. The breathtaking performances, goals, quality individual displays all spiced up the first half of the league.
KCCA FC finished the first round of the season leading the table with 29 points and are separated with BUL FC only with 2 points and tied up with Vipers SC.
Onduparaka FC are languishing at the bottom of the table with just seven points.
Unquestionably, several players stood out and delivered excellent individual performances that were crucial to their clubs’ success thus far this season.
The top players that stood out during the first round of the Uganda Premier League are examined by UG SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT.
Fred Amaku (Maroons FC)
Fred Amaku of Maroons FC is presently leading the race for the golden boot with seven goals.
The striker has shown his quality and what an important player for the Prison Warders , scoring crucial goals in the process.
It was a surprise that he was not summoned for Uganda Cranes CHAN squad
Allan Kayiwa(Express FC)
The former Vipers SC winger is one of the versatile attackers in the league. He scores eye-catching goals in a game.
He has won more points for his club than any player at Express FC this season.
Kayiwa has five goals to his name so far this season and his work rate sees him in the top players that stood out in the first round of the league.
His free kick against Busoga United FC are among the best individual performances in the league this season.
Karim Ndugwa (BUL FC)
In Ndugwa, BUL FC have found a perfect goal machine.
Ndugwa, who joined the Alex Isabirye coached side in the January transfer window has scored five goals so far this season as they remain in contention for the league trophy.
Ndugwa has been key for the Eastern Giants and has been a reliable attacker in this first round.
