In a game that many expected to be a big differential in the title race this season. Vipers Football Club hosted Uganda Revenue Authority FC at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende today looking to climb to the top of the table again with a win.  And after their 2-1 win at KCCA over the weekend, many expected the Venoms to take this opportunity at home to win and go above their opponents URA in the league today.

With their pedigree in winning most of their games at Kitende against Vipers, URA started the game in full swing and they managed to go in front in the 33rd minutes through Rwothomio Cromwell, who scored to put them 1:0 up in the game. The first half then ended 1:0 to URA whose composure gave them the advantage over the opponent going into halftime break.

At the birth of second half, the Venoms needed to respond quickly with an equalizer in the game, but URA were never letting themselves be pegged back, as they defended all Vipers attacking threat. The Venoms kept putting pressure on the URA in search of an equalizer but the away team was showing the real qualities of why they are topping the league at the moment. But the moment the Venoms had been waiting for came late in the 85th minute through Yunus Sentamu who scored the equalizing goal to bring his side back into the game. And with only 5 minutes remaining on the clock until the final whistle, the two teams only needed to defend well to pick a point each in the game, but all in all it was an interesting encounter between the two sides.

URA now moves to 51 points and Vipers with this draw also moved to 50 points. It remains to be seen who will win the title this season but these two teams have kept it tight between themselves and it could be interesting to see what happens with Express FC now also on 49 points in 3rd position.
