National Basketball League Semifinal playoffs

Sunday, September 11

UCU Canons 64-72 City Oilers (0-1)

KIU Titans 73-64 Nam Blazers (1-1)

UCU Lady Canons 62-42 KIU Rangers (1-0)

KCCA Leopards 52-65 JKL Lady Dolphins (0-2)

City Oilers defeated UCU Canons to win the opening game of their  National Basketball League semifinal playoff series on Sunday at the YMCA court, Wandegeya.

The thrilling match, which was a rematch of 2019 final, saw the seven-time champions prevail 72–64.

James Okello led the Oilers in scoring with 15 points until fouling out late in the game.

Titus Lual led the Canons with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Fayed Baale was at the peak of his game with 18 points and three assists.

Lwabaga Ibanda bagged unconvincing  10 points and 7 assists for the Canons.

The perfect combination of Jimmy Enabu and Tonny Drilleba was top-notch in the thrashing of Canons.

The Canons played a predictable game with more-or-less bouncing.

Canons will hope to level matters when the two giants meet for game two on Tuesday.
