The 49th edition of the Stanbic Uganda cup final will be played at Akii Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira.

This was confirmed by the FUFA competitions director Aisha Nalule during the round of 64 draws held at the FUFA complex in Mengo on Tuesday 24th of January 2023.

This will be the first time for the Uganda cup finals to be held in the Northern region since 2012 when Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club URA FC beat Bunamwaya Fc (now Vipers SC) 1-0 at Peace stadium in Gulu, thanks to striker Robert Ssentongo solo goal.

It is important to note that the 2012 final was first ever to be played outside Kampala.

In 2013, the final was played in Masindi at Masindi stadium where Victoria University Fc beat Vipers SC 5-3 in penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

At Mbale municipal stadium where the 2014 edition was played, Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club URA FC emerged 4-2 winners over KCCA FC in penalties after a 2-2 score line at full time.

The 2015 final which was played in Ntungamo between KCCA FC and SC Villa was abandoned due to violence from fans. It was replayed at Namboole stadium and SC Villa beat KCCA FC 3-0.

Vipers SC were 3-1 Uganda cup winners after beating Onduparaka Fc 3-1 in the final at Nakivubo stadium.

At the Green Light Stadium in Arua in 2017, KCCA FC humbled Paidha Black Angels Fc 2-0.

In 2018 at Emokori play ground Bukedea, KCCA FC beat Vipers SC 1-0 to emerge champions.

The 2019 final at masaka recreational ground between Proline Fc and Bright Stars Fc ended 1-1 in normal time but Proline fc emerged victors 5-4 in penalties.

In 2020 the Stanbic Uganda cup was not played due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

In 2021 at the FUFA technical center in Njeru, Vipers walloped BUL FC 8-1 to clinch the championship.

Last year 2022 BUL FC made a sweet revenge when they beat Vipers SC 3-1 in a well attended final at Masindi stadium.
