In the last game of the quarterfinal first leg, Big League side Proline FC, hosted Uganda Premier League side, BUL FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday, 28th May.

The long awaited encounter kicked off at MTN Omondi in Lugogo at 4PM. Both teams were looking to get the better of each other in order to secure first leg advantage.

After outing Kigezi Home Boyz in the round on 16, BUL FC had less than 48 hours to prepare for the quarter final against Proline F. One would imagine that the team would be fatigued and affect their performance as a team. On the contrary, the Jinja based side grabbed Proline FC by their balls and hang them to dry at MTN Omondi with a 2:0 score line. Goals from Vitalis Tabu and Joseph Ssemujju in the first half gave BUL a 2:0 advantage to carry into the second leg.

BUL FC went in front through Tabu who got the opener after only 6 minutes into the game with an outstanding free-kick past goalkeeper Sharif Magoola, to put his side 1:0 up. After conceding the first goal early in the game, Proline FC struggled to double their momentum in a bid to find an equalizer in the game but they were insufficient in all their attempts as the Jinja based boys defended well.  In addition, Ssemujju scored a second goal for BUL FC with eight minutes to the end of first half. The two sides concluded the first period 2:0 with BUL FC going into halftime break as the big winners.

In the second period, Proline was still looking disorganized. BUL FC had a chance to triple their score if it wasn’t for Ssemujju missing his chance after being denied by the woodwork in the 52nd minute.

With the scoreboard reading in their favor, BUL managed to play gallantly and defended their 2 goals lead in the first half for the match to end at 2:0. The return leg will be played on 31st May 2021 at the Kyabazinga Stadium Bugembe and the winner will progress to the semi-finals on aggregate.
