Express FC secured their place in the round of 16 of the Uganda Cup after beating Kyetume FC 1:0 today at Wankulukuku.

Second half substitute Frank Kalanda scored a late penalty in the 87th minute to help the club advance to the next round of the Uganda Cup on a 3-2 aggregate.

The first leg of this fixture played at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru ended in a 2:2 draw, and today both teams had a lot to play for in this leg. It was the Red Eagles who got lucky when Martin Kizza went down too easily after a challenge from Felix Okot. This was enough to convince the centre referee Rajab Bakasambe to hand them a late penalty which decided the tie.

Frank  Kalanda who had replaced Muzamiru Mutyaba at the start of the second half, then stepped up and made no mistake from the penalty spot despite a nice try from Kyetume goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa.

They will have to double their strength in the next round if they are to win this competition but for today 1 goal was just enough to earn them a place in the round of 16.
