The second leg of the round of eight tie between KCCA and Express FC ended in another draw. Unlike the first leg, it ended 1:1 between the two sides. Express FC came from a goal down to level the game with only seven minutes of play left until full-time at MTN Omondi Stadium. They eventually qualified on the away goal rule despite their draw.

In the last four matches between the Red Eagles and the Kasasiro Boys, the matches have all ended draws and today was no different between the two sides. KCCA opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with only 3 minutes remaining until halftime whistle. This goal gave them the momentum they needed to try and put pressure on the Red Eagles who are chasing a double for this season.

But in the 83rd minute when the Kasasiro Boys were already one foot ahead into the semifinal, the Red Eagles netted the goal that kicked KCCA out of this year’s Uganda Cup competition with only seven minutes left on the clock before the final whistle.

This loss for KCCA now means that their chances of winning any silverware this season have been scrapped away from them and the Kasasiro boys will now look towards next season’s competition as they labour to fill their cabinet with silverware. On the other hand, the Red Eagles are in the best form of their lives and with this win, they have a chance to do a double this season by winning both the Uganda Cup and Uganda Premier League.
