Uganda Sevens kicked off their Cape Town 7s campaign against the USA in Pool D with a 38-5 loss.
Uganda joined the Sevens Series for its first season.
They finished last in their first tournament in Dubai 7s and are looking for that first-ever win on the circuit
Meanwhile, the USA has their sights set on improving their results from the Dubai 7s with an opportunity to climb into the top four spots worthy of qualification for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
The USA are currently having 3 points outside of those covered top spots.
They return to Cape Town having just competed in South Africa in September for the Rugby World Cup Sevens.
Lucas Lacamp bagged a hatrick in the first, third, and seventh minutes and Malacchi Esdale got a brace in the fifth and eleventh minutes before Perry Baker sealed the score for USA.
Jacob Ochen pulled the lone try for Uganda Sevens in the fourteenth minute.
Uganda is currently bottom of the Pool D with one point while USA tops the log with 3 points.
The Uganda Sevens will face Australia 7s tomorrow, Saturday 10th December at 1pm and conclude the day with Great Britain at 5:30 pm.
Uganda are in Pool D alongside USA, Great Britain as well as Series joint leaders and defending champions Australia.
