The 2022 Women’s Beach Soccer Festival got on to the mark at Mutoola Resort Beach in Mukono on Friday morning.
The tournament has attracted 8 teams which were grouped into two.
Defending champions Uganda Martyrs Lubaga BSC and finalists Nansana Ladies BSC started from where they ended in the previous campaign with outstanding performance on match day one.
Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Beach Soccer Club thrashed Kampala Junior Team Beach Soccer Club by 5-1 in the opening match. Four goals from the reigning MVP Catherine Nagadya and a goal from Brenda Munyana sealed the victory for the defending champions with Reticia Nakyeyune scoring the only goal for Kampala Junior Team BSC.
In their second game, Uganda Martyrs thrashed Talented Ladies by 8-0 with two hat-tricks in the game from Fatuma Nakasumba and Catherine Nagadya who has so far scored 7 goals in two matches, the other two goals came from Brenda Munyana and Esther Namusoke.
Nansana Ladies Beach Soccer Club who reached finals with Uganda Martyrs in the previous edition also proved their intentions to claim the title with 5-2 win against Makindye Bees Beach Soccer Club. A hat-trick from She Corporate FC midfielder Cissy Nantongo and a brace from Justin Najjuko sealed their win, Samalie Nakachwa and Hasifah Nassuna who also plays for Kampala Queens FC scored for Makindye Bees Beach Soccer Club.
In their second game Nansana Ladies thumped Nile Queens Beach Soccer Club by 6-1 with a hat-trick from Justin Najjuko, a brace from Yudaya Nalubega and goal from Rebecca Nakasato, Gloria Mutesi scored the consolation for Nile Queens Beach Soccer Club.
Elsewhere Gomba Ladies BSC ran riot over Nile Queens BSC in an eleven goal thriller to secure an 8-3 win. Shamsa Najjuma of Gomba Queens became the first player to score five goals in a match with Latifa Nakasi netting a brace while the other goal came from Sumaiya Nalumu. Sharot Namugenyi, Judith Mauwa and Sumaiya Namugalo scored a goal each for Nile Queens BSC.
Kampala Junior Team BSC fought hard to secure a 5-4 win against Mpata Ladies BSC with Leticia Nakyeyune joining Shamsa Najjuma to score five goals in a single match. Susan Nalukoda scores a brace with Hawa Watulo and Aziza Amoding also scoring a goal each for Mpata Ladies BSC.
Hasifah Nassuna and Hasiyat Nalugwa both scored a brace as Makindye Bees BSC shared spoils with Gomba Ladies BSC. Shamsa Najjuma added two goals to take her tally to seven in two games just like Catherine Nagadya of Uganda Martyrs with Samaiya Nalumu and Ruth Kobusingye scoring a goal each for Gomba Ladies BSC to end the game at 4-4 score.
