The World Rugby Repechage tournament starts from 19th- 20th June in Monaco.
The repechage tournament is a one-off event to determine the final two women’s and one men’s teams to qualify for the Rugby Sevens competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which were delayed until 2021.
Twelve women’s and 10 men’s teams will compete in a round robin at a competition in Monaco on 19-20 June, 2021, with two women’s teams and one men’s team booking their place for Tokyo.
The Olympic men’s Rugby Sevens competition is scheduled for 26-28 July, with the women’s tournament played right after, on 29-31 July. All the games will be hosted at Tokyo stadium.
Uganda will play in the men’s Group B of the tournament competing against the likes of France, Hong Kong, Chile and Jamaica with whom Uganda has been pitted against.
Coach Tolbert Onyango has called up 16 players for training ahead of the tournament.
The team will be training on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at Legends Grounds in Kampala from 7:00am to 8:00am.
The World Rugby Sevens Repechage tournament is slated for 19th- 20th June in Monaco at the Stade Louis II.
