The Uganda sand Cranes are participating in the AFCON Beach Soccer tournament in Senegal for the first time. They have automatically progressed to the semi-finals of the tournament after Tanzania fell to favourites Senegal 3-1 on 26/05/21.
The sand Cranes lost their opening game against record titleholders Senegal (5-1) on Sunday 22, May 2021.
They won the next match against neighbours Tanzania 4-3 in a tightly contested match on Monday. This was in a fight for a second spot that would almost guarantee the second spot in the group.
Tanzania was left with an uphill task of beating Senegal to force a playoff with Uganda.
They failed in an attempt that ended in a 3-1 loss to the East African. This automatically guaranteed Uganda a second spot and therefore qualification into the semi-finals of the tournament.
Uganda plays Mozambique on Friday 28/05/21 at 19:15 EAT.
The team will automatically qualify for FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup if they make it to the final of the AFCON Beach Soccer tournament in Senegal.
