Uganda has been drawn alongside hosts and defending champions Senegal in group A of the 2021 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations which is slated to take place from 23rd – 29th May, 2021. The eight teams were grouped into two groups of four teams per group.
The Sand Cranes were drawn alongside neighbors DRC and Tanzania. The Sand Cranes will open their account against 2nd timers Tanzania before playing 5 time champions Senegal in the second match. The two debutants Uganda and DRC will face off in the final group game.
The winners and runners up from each group will qualify for the semifinals and the two finalists automatically qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World cup to be staged in Russia later this year.
Uganda was meant to host this edition in 2020 but due to Covid 19 and a rise in the water levels at the shores of Lake Victoria led to the nation to pull out from hosting
The Sand Cranes qualified for the final tournament after Ghana pulled out from the final qualifying fixture.
