The Uganda national boxing club, ‘’Bombers’’ will fly to Maputo in Mozambique for the Africa Boxing Confederation Championship today 8th of September 2022.
The competition runs from 8th -18th September 2022 and will have both elite men and women.
The Bombers have been undergoing an intense non-residential training camp in Lugogo with a final piece of the nitty gritty held yesterday in preparation for the forthcoming championship in the Southern part of Africa.
The management of Uganda Boxing Federation, yesterday in a tweet made an announcement to the boxing fraternity that the last day of the non-residential camp training for the Bombers in Lugogo was on 7th September at 12:00pm.
‘’The team will be traveling on Thursday evening to Maputo, Mozambique for the Africa Boxing Confederation Championship ‘’ added the management.
The team of seven talented fighters, having 6 men and one woman will be battling other boxers across Africa in this competition.
In the team are Joshua Tokamuhebwa, the team captain, Jonah Kyobe, Owen Kibiria, Isaac Zebra Ssenyange, Yusuf Nkobeza, and Idris Mukiibi with Teddy Nakimuli as the only woman in the team.
The team is under the stewardship of Patrick Lihanda, the head coach and he will be assisted by Samuel Kabugo, Mercy Mukankusi, Lora Kalyango, and Twaib Mayanja.
A lot will be expected from the national team, especially in terms of medals having had intense preparation and experience from the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
