Mary Cholhok put on the player of the match performance to guide Loughborough Lightning to a 59-51 win against Leeds Rhinos on matchday 18 of the Vitality Super League.

The Ugandan goal shooter reached a mile stone of 700 goals this season after netting 50 goals in the game, there by becoming the player of the match in the process.

“It’s really important for us to keep our performances up, keep the intensity going as we approach the playoffs, and to work on all the components we know will need to win,” said Cholhok.

This was Loughborough’s second league game in less 24 hours after winning 59-35 against Celtic Dragons on Saturday where Cholhok registered 21 goals.

Cholhok leads the goal scoring chart with 700 goals, 119 goals more than Malawi’s Joyce Mvula who is in 2nd position with 581 goals. She plays for Manchester Thunder.

Elsewhere, Stephwood scored a clutch step-back last-minute winner as Ugandan goal attacker Peace Proscovia’s Sunshine Coast Lightning overcame Adelaide Thunderbirds 59-58 at Netball SA Stadium in Australia.
