After being knocked out of the Uganda Cup by Vipers Football Club and beaten 5-1 by Wakiso Giants in the league over the weekend, the UPDF today hosted relegation Candidate MYDA FC in game week 23 of the Uganda Premier league.

The UPDF, desperate to respond at home against MYDA, started the game with great vigor which limited the visitors to only defensive in the first half. But MYDA FC with all the stake to lose in this fixture managed to keep their calm and defended well to end the first half goalless between them at Bombo Stadium.

After almost 70 minutes played in the second half, Joseph Vuni scored for the UPDF in the 69th minute to give his side the desperate lead that they had been longing for all day in the game. But in the 78th minute, the home team were pegged back by a Paul Musamali goal that leveled the game at 1-1, with only 12 minutes remaining until the final whistle.  The Saints after conceding an equalizer, strived to regain their lead back, but the visitors were able to nullify all their attacking threat and kept the score line at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes in Bombo.The UPDF with this draw occupied the 7th position on the log with 33 points after 23 games played this season. Whereas there was no change for MYDA FC in regards to their league standing as they still remained second from bottom on 11 points after 23 games played this season.
