Mathematically things aren’t looking good for both Kitara FC and MYDA FC with regards to their UPL survival this season. But the two teams today met in gameweek 25 of the Uganda Premier League at Masindi Stadium in Masindi.

Without a doubt, it was going to be a difficult game between the two sides, as they both need to win all their remaining six games in order to stay in the league for next season’s competition. But it was Kitara FC that started the game with composure and fluidity in the first half, with two brilliant goals from Isaac Tumusiime and one from Stuart Mwesigwa in the first half in favor of Kitara FC in Masindi. Isaac Tumusiime scored his opening goal in the 10th minute to give his side an early lead, before Staurt Mwesigwa made it 2:0 in the 39th minute. And with only 1 minute remaining until the end of first half, Isaac Tumusiime scored to complete his brace in the game to give his side a 3:0 lead going into half time break.

The second half started and for most of it, there was nothing to report as Kitara FC shielded their lead with good defensive performances that frustrated the men from Malaba all evening. But in the 90+3 minutes of added time, Peter Mutebi pulled one back for the Flying Eagles of Tororo but the goal was insufficient to redeem something for his team at that moment.  When the final whistle was blown, it was Kitara FC 3:1 against MYDA fc. This win for Kitara FC of course has no significance to their table standing as they still occupy the bottom position on 13 points, one below MYDA FC who stand in 15th position with only five games remaining for this season.
