After a very successful start to the second half of the Uganda Premier League season, KCCA failed to keep up the momentum they started with under their new coach Morley Byekwaso, when he replaced Mike Mutebi who resigned in the first half of the season. The Kasasiro Boys haven’t been consistent with their performance in the league, recording a number of bad results, losing to Vipers Football Club, drawing to both Police and UPDF respectively. But today they hosted relegation-threatened Busoga United who needed to take advantage of Kyetume FC slip at Villa to climb out of the relegation equation.

Two first half goals from Juma Balinya, Charles Lwanga and a late second half penalty by Gift Abubakar were enough to silence Busoga United at MTN Omondi Stadium by KCCA. Juma Balinya opened the scoring in the 28th minute to set the tempo in the game, before Charles Lwanga’s goal in the 33rd minute doubled KCCA’s lead in the game. Ibrahim Ekellot pulled one back for Busoga United in the 37th minute to restore their hope in the game going into halftime break.

In the second half, Busoga United struggled to exert themselves in the game and find an equalizer as KCCA defended their territory very well to thwart any kind of attacking threats from the Jinja based boys. Busoga United added salt to their wound by conceding a late penalty in the 79th minute, which Gift Abubakar converted to put the score line at 3:1. With only 10 minutes plus added time remaining until the end of the full time whistle.

The home team defended very well to keep the score 3:1 at full time whistle. This win has taken them to 45 points, 11 behind 3rd place Vipers Football Club who stand at 56 points. Consequently for Busoga United, the hope of moving to 29 points in the league crumbled as they failed to take advantage of the opportunity awarded to them by Kyetume FC. They still remain in the 13th position with 26 points after 26 games played this season.
