After coming back from 2:0 down during the midweek to beat champions Vipers at Kitende, Mbarara City hosted Police FC at Kakyeeka in a game that pitted Cranes coaches Livingston Mbabazi and Abdallah Mubiru.

Mbarara City with their current good form hasn’t been an easy side for the big teams to beat at their home this season.  And today against Police FC, a side that has failed to win in their last six matches, many expected Mbarara City to share a point with Police, but the Ankole Lions were out to prove a point..

The first Half in Mbarara ended 0:0 with the two teams equaling each other in all aspects of the game. But in the second half, in form Henry Kitegenyi gave Mbarara City the lead in the 58th minute to put much pressure on Police FC with everything still left to play for in the second half. At 1:0 up and aware of their impressive home record at home against Police FC, the Ankole Lions just needed to hold on to their 1:0 lead with some good defensive resiliency to keep their record intact.

They did just that and collected all the maximum three points from their clash with Police FC today in one piece. Mbarara City has become a hard place to travel to for most of the top teams in the Uganda Premier League this season.

This win now takes them to the 9th position in the league with 35 points, whereas their opponent for today dropped to the 6th place with 39 points and giving way to Bright Stars who now sit in the 5th place with 41 points after 26 games played this season
