KCCA FC was up against URA FC in this Uganda Premier League return fixture. It wasn’t going to be an easy match for both teams due to the pressure you would expect from this top of the table clash. With KCCA FC hoping to gain ground on the top 3 and URA FC aiming to keep up the pressure on table toppers, Vipers SC.
So both teams definitely had big expectations from this game.
But at halftime, it was still a stalemate with both sides looking solid in the defence to keep each other at bay.
After the restart, URA continued pressing. They were looking to keep their title challenge alive with a win. And the pressure paid off as Joakim Ojera found the back of the net soon. He scored in the 55th minute to give the tax collectors an early second half lead with a well-deserved header.
With the score at 1 : 0 to URA FC, Morley Byekwaso’s KCCA FC side opened up more in abid to try and get an equalizer but it was URA skipper Shafik Kagimu who exploited these desperation and connected wel -with Steven Makala to put the URA FC 2 : 0 in the 67th minute.
The win takes URA to 39 points, same as log leaders Vipers who thumped Busoga United 4 : 0 at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende to keep competition much alive at the top of the log.
This loss for KCCA FC, means they remain winless against sides in the top six. They have also let URA FC collect a double over them in this 2020/2021 season.
