URA came in today’s last 16 second leg tie with a goal deficit following a 2-1 loss at Wankulukuku on 1st May so they needed nothing but a win.
URA FC made 2 changes from the team that fell to a 2-1 loss in the first leg having Galiwango Arafat and Sebwalunyo Hannington starting while Express FC made only one change with midfielder Daniel Shabene replacing John Tooki.
The boys started the game on a wet and slippery surface after several minutes were spent draining and clearing the waterlogged pitch.
Charles Musiige was close to putting Express into the lead in the 18th minute after beating the defenders but his shot was well saved by URA goalkeeper Sebwalunyo Hannington.
URA FC’s Kagimu Shafik was shown a yellow card in the 37th minute for a foul with Express’ Denis Mbuya also receiving the same card for a foul on Sseruyidde Moses 4 minutes later.
In the 38th minute URA FC was forced to make an early substitution for the injured Ibrahim Dada replaced by Mukwala Steven.
The halftime whistle was blown when it was still level.
The tax collectors made a double substitution in the 58th minute with Nkuubi Brian and Sserubiri Ivan replacing Sseruyidde Moses and Galiwango Arafat in an attempt to find a goal.
The tax collectors came close in the 62nd minute when Ojera laid off a beautiful ball to Nkuubi whose shot rolled wide before his 66th minute shot through a commotion that also went over the bar.
Daniel Shabene was shown a yellow card in the 67th minute for a foul.
69 minutes into the game Express made their first substitution with John Byamukama replacing Charles Musiige.
Express FC’s Godfrey Lwesibawa entered the referee’s book with a yellow card for time wasting in the 75th minute of the game before URA FC’s Ojera saw a yellow card in the 81st minute.
In the 86th minute of the game Express had their last substitution with Kalanda replacing Kambale.
3 minutes were added into the game before the final whistle was blown with no goal from either side.
The result meant URA FC are out of this year’s Uganda Cup with Express FC progressing to the quarter finals on a 2-1 aggregate score.
