The vaccination of rugby players and officials against COVID-19 was scheduled for 2/06/21 at Kyadondo rugby grounds.

The process was supposed to run from 10-00 to 14-00.

However, on their official Twitter account, the Uganda Rugby Union announced the postponement of the vaccination process.

“The vaccination scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed to a later date that will be communicated soon.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.” – read the statement.

This vaccination was following guidelines from the Ministry of Health Standard Operating Protocols.

All rugby players were to converge at the rugby grounds at the scheduled times to receive their first jabs of the vaccine.

The priority will be given to the rugby 15s team in the camp which is in preparation for the Rugby Repachage in Monaco later this month.

The league for both men and women ended in April. With KOBS lifting the trophy after going the season unbeaten.

Players are in preparation for international schedules; qualification for the Tokyo Olympics, Annual Elgon camp.

This puts them at high risk of exposure to the COVID virus if they’re not vaccinated early enough.

It is still unknown why the vaccination was postponed but the earlier it happens the better for the players and officials.
