The Venoms were desperate to win to keep their chances of winning the title alive. And win they did.

They won in the most dramatic way on the day. Vipers fans celebrated when they were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half time.

Aziz Kayondo was brought down a few minutes to half time. League top scorer Yunus Sentamu stepped up to take the penalty. He hit it wide of the goal posts in  a big disappointment to Kajoba.

The decisive moment of the game came in the added time of half time when midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga lobbed over Bright Star’s goalkeeper Simon Tamale to put the Venoms in the lead.

There was little action in the second half. Vipers played cautiously to end the game 1-0. Vipers recorded their 6th win in 6 away games to maintain their good form on the road.

The win puts Fred Kajoba’s charges two points behind Express on 56 points. Express won their game 4-0 earlier on to regain top spot with 4 games to the end of the league.

Vipers face Sc Villa in their next game in the quarter final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Bright stars who suffered their first loss in 10 games are out of the Uganda Cup. They visit Police FC at Lugogo in their next game. Police are 6th on the table  behind Bright Stars.
