Good Friday saw Vipers FC travelling to Bombo to play UPDF on match day 16 of the Uganda Premier League.

Vipers FC, aware of how stiff the competition is at the summit of the UPL table this season, were looking to climb to the top of the table with a win.

The Venoms started the match on a high note. With only 15 minutes into the game, Paul Mucureezi gave his team the early lead to remind UPDF FC who is the defending champion in this league.

Cesar Manzoki doubled The Venoms’ lead in the 28th minute to cement their halftime lead. Halftime came at 2 : 0 in favour of the visiting side.

In the second half, there was not much activity to report as the Venoms continued to frustrate the Army boys all day. And in the 81st minute, Cesar Manzoki completed his brace to make it 3 : 0 for the visitors in Bombo.

This win puts Vipers FC top of the UPL table with the same points as URA FC. The Tax Collectors however have a game in hand that they play on Saturday. It will not be easy as it is against an improved Express FC. Vipers SC fans will be hoping the Red Eagles can upset URA FC.

On the other hand, UPDF dropped to the 7th position with only 25 points after 16 games played this season.
