Vipers Sports Club has named their new captain as the team prepares for their encounter with Central African Republic outfit Olympic Real De Bangui in Congo Brazzaville.

Milton Karisa has emerged as the new skipper for the Venoms.

The talented Uganda Cranes forward takes over the role from Halid Lwaliwa, and will now lead the team out as their journey on the continent resumes.

Karisa has become the first team captain taking over from Halid Lwaliwa who has been Venom’s skipper since 2018.

Milton Karisa now follows in the footsteps of Halid Lwaliwa, Taddeo Lwanga, Nicholas Wadada, Farouk Miya, and so on.

Karisa joined Vipers SC from BUL FC in the second round of the 2016-17 season and is pleased to have the role full-time.

Karisa couldn’t hide his excitement after being handed the armband and explained how he felt with the news.

“The gaffer insinuated that he was going to trust me with the role and it’s an absolute privilege to be handed the armband full time.” Explained Karisa.

“I did it on a few occasions during Pre-Season when Lwaliwa, was out, but as I said, it’s a real privilege to be the club’s captain for real.”

Midfielder Siraje Sentamu who re-joined the club in 2019 after spending two years at Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club has been promoted from third to second captain.

This is his sixth season with the Venoms.

St Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende graduate Ashraf Mandela has also been added to the captains’ list for the first time.

Ashraf Mandela becomes the new member of the list of captains.

In the 2018-19 season, Ashraf joined SC Villa before moving to URA FC a year later, where he spent three campaigns. He returned to the Venoms this year, this time as a member of the first team squad.

Karisa’s first role will be to lead the team to Congo Brazzaville for the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round with Central African Republic outfit Olympic Real De Bangui at Stade Alphonse Massamba Debat on Saturday evening.

This will be followed by a return clash at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Saturday 17th September 2022.
