The 20th edition of National Health Institutions games kicked off on 29th of August at Fort Portal College of Health Science in Fort Portal City, Kabarole district will conclude on 4th September 2022.
The championship has up to seven different sports disciplines including Athletics (Field, Cross country, and Track events), Mind Games (Omweso, Draught, Chess, and Scrabble), and Ball games (Volleyball, Netball, Football, Handball, and Woodball).
44 Health Institutions from across the nation are competing against one another not only for the local title but also for the chance to win and represent Uganda in the East African Health Institutions games whose venue and dates will be communicated later.
Athletics started on the 29th Aug 2022 and concluded yesterday with Kampala region dominating, bagging Gold in 100m, 200m, Silver in 400m, Gold in 400m, Gold in 10,000m, 5,000m, and Cross country, Gold in Javelin men, Discuss men, and women.
Mind Games and wood ball were played concurrently with Athletics.
The Ball games start today and among them is volleyball which has attracted up to 52 competitors for both boys’ and girls’ categories.
The different institutions have been drawn into six pools for the boys and girls categories.
Defending champions Fort Portal college of health sciences for the boy’s category are in pool A.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Sports and Education annually.
