FUFA DRUM TOURNAMENT
Acholi 1 – 1 West Nile
Aggregate: (1) – (2)
West Nile province came into the second Semi final with a goal advantage from the first leg without conceding a goal.
The hosts, Acholi Province, were unbeaten at home in this edition after two games, defeating Bunyoro Province 1-0 (in round 16) and Buganda 2-1 in the quarter-finals.
Until this point, West Nile province had not conceded a goal in the tournament, showing good defense with the key center backs, Rashid Toha and Bright Vuni.
Coach Akena of Acholi province put his best foot forward, fielding Dominic Ayella, Oninkelit, Norman Ogik, who came in as a substitute after the forward Isaac Otto went off injured.
Both sides were very conservative with attack in the opening 15 minutes but West Nile showed more precision in the final third.
Acholi scored an opener through Norman Ogik from a low cross coming in through the right wing after a beautiful linkup from Dominic Ayella.
A few moments later, West Nile responded through a set piece taken by Wahab Gaddafi, headed by Fred Amaku; however the defender and captain Owiny had a last brush, making it an own goal.
Coach Akena seemed to have the game in control however his mistake was taking off Dominic Ayella who by far was their best player on the pitch.
This left Norman and Onenkalit lost in the final third, leaving a lot of space for Wahab to spray passes in the final third.
The game ended in a one-all-draw however West Nile proceeded to the finals against the winner in the next leg hut by between Lango vs Tooro province.
