Following a day-long scrutinizing pre–event on Wednesday, FIA emerged with an amended entry list which saw Yasin Nassar as the only Ugandan on the final entry list.

Fellow countrymen Ronald Ssebuguzi, Duncan Mubiru, Hassan Alwi, and Walubi Kepher were denied a chance to be on the entry list after failing to comply in the pre -event scrutineering and instead they will be competing in the KNRC4 National Rally.

Yasin Nasser who will be co-driven by Ali Katumba will be driving a Subaru Impreza marked car no. 46. This will be the crew’s first appearance at the WRC Safari Rally event which has returned to the African continent after two decades.

The 2019 NRC champion’s main worry is the dusty conditions of Naivasha where the event will mainly be concentrated but the experience attained during the recently concluded equator Rally is likely to play a role for the crew in completing the safari rally.

Yasin will start section one in position 32 on Thursday 24th June 2021 while Friday’s section two will see the Ugandan start in position 28.

Meanwhile Kenya’s Josiah Karuiki joined Norwegian driver Andreas Mikkelsen, Finish driver Teemu Suninen, Bolivian driver Marco Bulacia and Kenyan driver Edward Maina on a long list of drivers who have withdrawn from the event.

Also, to withdraw from the event is another Kenyan Issa Amwari who had also been moved to the KNRC4 national rally competitors list along with the Ugandan contingent. He made the announcement of his withdrawal shortly after the amended entry list was released.

“I am officially withdrawing from the event because of technical issues with my fuel cell that come today, I can’t risk without a cover,” wrote Issa Amwari.
