Football: Elio Capradossi’s Stellar Debut
Elio Capradossi, an Italian-based defender, was celebrated as the best football player of the month for his stellar debut performances for the Uganda Cranes during the World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria. Capradossi’s defensive prowess and composure on the field earned him this accolade, highlighting his importance to the national team. Other football nominees included Ronald Kaye of Ntungasanze and Paul Lule, reflecting the competitive nature of the sport in Uganda.
Lifetime Achievement: Godfrey Mbarire
In addition to the monthly awards, Godfrey Mbarire received a Lifetime Achievement award for his significant contributions to Ugandan football. Mbarire, the former Kabaka Chief of Ssazza Ssingo, played a pivotal role in reviving the Masaza Football Tournament in 2004 and served as Chairman of the Masaza Cup organizing committee.
