The Girls Schools Cricket Week tournament reached its climax as Light Secondary School (SS) and Olila High School clashed in a thrilling final showdown. Despite facing an uphill battle against the reigning champions, Olila High, Light SS emerged triumphant with a narrow three-run victory, etching their names in the annals of cricketing history.
The Road to the Finals
Both Light SS and Olila High showcased their prowess in the group stages, remaining unbeaten throughout. Olila High, eyeing their fourth consecutive nationals trophy, had formidable victories in 2019, 2022, and 2023. On the other hand, Light SS, seeking their inaugural title, demonstrated resilience and skill to secure their place in the final.
The Final Showdown
In a strategic move, Olila High opted to bowl first, limiting Light SS to a modest 76 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Timong Patricia stood out amidst the challenging conditions, contributing 12 runs to the total. However, Olila High’s bowling attack, led by Lorna Anyait with 2 crucial wickets, posed a formidable challenge.
