YOUNG Africans SC will be aiming to move thirteen points clear at the top of the NBC Premier League table when they continue their domestic campaign with a home tie against Kagera Sugar in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, 8 May 2024.

Head coach Miguel Gamondi’s side is currently in a commanding position at the summit, sitting eleven points clear of second-placed Azam FC with just five and six games left respectively.

The reigning NBC Premier League champions, alias Yanga, have been comfortably the best team this season, boasting a record of 21 wins, two draws, and two defeats from 25 matches, which has left them at the top of the division having collected 65 points.

Is It Possible Yanga Will Win the Title?

Unless something extraordinary happens, Yanga will win the title for a third successive season, and it will be fully deserved, having scored the most goals (56) and conceded the fewest (12) during an excellent campaign.

Yanga SC posed for a double

The Dar es Salaam side is bidding to secure one more trophy this term, as they are also in the semifinals of the CRDB Federation Cup, Yanga recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tabora United at the Azam Complex Chamazi, cementing their place in the semi-finals.

They boast a five-match unbeaten run though they were held to a goalless draw by relegation strugglers, JKT Tanzania, in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.

Uncover the Secrets of Gamondi’s Side’s Success

Not only does Gamondi’s side boast the best offensive record in the division (56 goals scored), but also the team possesses the strongest defensive record (letting in 12 goals).

As for Kagera Sugar, nobody expect them to be challenging for a CAF Champions League spot during the business end of the season as they sit 7th on the log. However, this poses a great threat to the table leaders since it’s very tricky to play a side like Kagera with no serious pressure in anyway.

The Bukoba-Based Kagera Sugar: A Comprehensive Guide

Bukoba based Kagera Sugar is sitting seventh in the topflight, one point ahead of eighth-placed JKT Tanzania in the battle to secure top ten finish.

With five games to play, they need to grind out good results to secure a top ten finish. The side has struggled for wins in the league recently, recording just a win, and four draws in their last five matches.

They head into the Wednesday clash on the back of a goalless draw away to KMC at Uhuru Stadium last week. Any result does not affect them in anyway as they’re comfortably safe from the relegation threat.

Reverse fixture

Kagera Sugar held Yanga FC to a goalless draw in the reverse match at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Jangwani, Dar es Salaam this season, but the recent unbeaten run in five consecutive games should give them confidence ahead of this contest.

Slim hopes for Azam

Azam FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Ihefu at the Azam Complex Stadium. Feisal’s decisive goal in the 13th minute proved to be the difference-maker in a tightly contested match.

Title hopes for the ‘Chamazi Millionaires’ seems to be diminishing as the gap to the top spot keeps widening. They’re trailing by eleven points, second on the log having garnered 54 points with a game at hand.
